New York City’s new favorite family is now the First Family of the Big Apple. Last night, Bill de Blasio won the NYC mayoral race by a landslide, becoming the first Democrat in two decades to serve as the mayor of the city.
With his liberal agenda, opposition to stop-and-frisk and pledge to raise taxes to pay for universal pre-kindergarten, de Blasio led in the polls against GOP mayoral candidate Joe Lhota. He addressed the city shortly after 10 p.m., ending the Bloomberg-era.
“The people have chosen a progressive path and tonight we set forth on it, together, as one New York,” he said.
“The challenges we face have been decades in the making,” he said.
And of course, he celebrated by dancing with wife Chirlane McCray, and their children, Dante and Chiara de Blasio, proving that they are the coolest family of the greatest city…
